Computer security chief charged with unauthorized access to U.S. files
SAN DIEGO – The head of a computer security company was arrested and charged with trying to gain access to government and military computers and copying files to generate publicity for his firm, it was announced today.

According to a six-count indictment, Brett Edward O'Keefe and his co- conspirators possessed unauthorized computer files belonging to NASA, the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, Department of Energy and National Institutes of Health.

O'Keefe, 47, is charged with engaging in a conspiracy to access military, government and private sector computers.

According to the indictment, O'Keefe and his co-conspirators would gain access to computer files, then use the information to solicit business.

Federal agents executed a search at O'Keefe's Forensic Tec Solutions offices on Aug. 16, 2002.

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow morning before Magistrate Judge Nita Stormes.
